Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), now increasingly reframed as Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS), is not simply a condition limited to the ovaries. Today, we understand it as a multilayered biological process involving insulin signaling, hormonal balance, inflammation, mitochondrial function, and brain–ovary communication.
At LaraHealth, PCOS is approached not solely through its symptoms, but through the biological mechanisms underlying those symptoms. This perspective views women’s health as a lifelong systemic process and focuses on the interconnected relationship between metabolic health, circadian biology, inflammation, and hormonal communication.
As part of the LaraHealth Education & Awareness Platform, two important clinical perspectives will come together during a live Instagram conversation taking place on Sunday, May 17 at 8:00 PM (Turkey time).
Internationally recognized integrative gynecologist and women’s health expert Dr. Felice Gersh and Prof. Dr. Arda Lembet, Specialist in Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Perinatology, will discuss the metabolic, hormonal, and mitochondrial foundations of PCOS through the lens of current scientific evidence.
Topics explored during the live session will include:
- Why PCOS is not simply an “ovarian disorder”
- The role of insulin resistance and inflammation
- The impact of mitochondrial function on women’s health
- Long-term metabolic and hormonal health risks
- The importance of a systems-based approach in women’s health
Participants will also have the opportunity to submit questions to LaraHealth in advance, with selected topics addressed live during the discussion.
